Monthly Wrap Up

August 2011 Monthly Wrap-Up

Um, yeah, so I’m not really sure what happened, but all of a sudden I was constantly reading! I couldn’t stop myself! Not that I’m really complaining, but it was definitely a pleasant surprise. I read a lot of good books this month.

Since I’m 100% certain I’m not going to be able to finish up what I’m reading tonight, here’s what I read in August:

Visually:

No DNF’s this month. However, I will probably be returning Swanson’s “Bloody Crimes” back to the library, unread. I was so excited to see it on the shelf and snatched it up. But I just haven’t been in the mood for it. Maybe someday, but not right now.

July 2011 Monthly Wrap-Up

Another month gone by! And a great month of reading it was, if I may say so myself! I read 7 books, that’s the most I’ve read all year in a single month. And they were very good books as well. I hope that this means that the reading slump I’ve been in is now past me.

Visually:

May 2011 Monthly Wrap-Up

Well, I have definitely had a whirlwind May 🙂 Our trip to Alaska was amazing, we had absolutely GORGEOUS weather the entire time that we were there! In addition to the things we saw, I caught a rare rockfish, I walked on a glacier, I zip lined, and I went whitewater rafting. Talk about knocking some pretty awesome stuff off my bucket list! Anyways, I will write a more detailed post on our trip (with pictures) a little later on – I only have 996 pictures to go through and pick out the best ones … that should keep me busy for a while! (Note to self: never let my husband have the camera on vacation again, I wouldn’t have taken half the pictures he did) For now, I’m just going to do my monthly reading wrap-up. Here goes:

April 2011 Monthly Wrap-Up

Another month gone by. Yikes. I just don’t know where the time seems to be going. Pretty soon I will be winging and then sailing my way toward Alaska!!! YAY!! I need a vacation so bad it’s not even funny. And with the flooding issues that Paducah has been facing this past week, well let’s just say that my husband (being the stormwater and drainage engineer for the city) needs the vacation as well. Anyways, I’m very pleased as to where my reading took me this month. So without further ado:

March 2011 Monthly Wrap-Up

March was another good month for me. I can’t believe that the first quarter of 2011 is already over! It has flown by! Overall, I’ve had a good first quarter reading wise. I’ve also decided to step away from accepting books for review from publishers/authors/publicists. This is actually a great relief for me. And let me just add that I think this was the BEST month reading-wise I’ve had in a VERY long time!!! Anyways, here’s what my reading looked like in March:

January 2011 Monthly Wrap-Up

I feel as if I started January out pretty solidly. I was able to finish 5 books this month.

Here’s a visual of the books I read (clicking on the individual books will take you to my review).

I read three Patterson books this month, something that I don’t usually do with his books. However, I am close to catching up with this series and I would like to get caught up with a series before I start a new-to-me series (and I’m itching to start a new series!)

Briefly:

  • I worked on two series this month – Alex Cross and Taylor Jackson
  • I read one author debut (Where Are the Children?)
  • Although I had two books that I rated 5/5 this month, I highly doubt either of them will make my Top 10 books at the end of the year.

Statistically:

  • Books Read: 5
  • Pages Read:  1,869
  • Rating Breakdown:
    • 5/5 – 2
    • 4/5 – 1

  • Favorite For the Month: Where Are the Children by Mary Higgins Clark
  • Least Favorite For the Month: Cross Country by James Patterson

August & September 2010 Wrap-Ups

Here’s what I’ve been reading:

August

  1. Patricia Cornwell, Blow Fly
  2. Brian Haig, The President’s Assassin
  3. James Patterson & Michael Ledwidge, Step on a Crack
  4. Tess Gerritsen, Body Double
  5. Nancy Grace, Death on the D-List
  • Books read: 5
  • Pages read: 1,517
  • New Authors: 1
  • Fiction: 5
  • Nonfiction: 0
  • Read for Challenges: 5

September

  1. Tess Gerritsen, The Mephisto Club
  2. Nellie Connally, From Love Field
  3. Tess Gerritsen, The Keepsake
  4. Ellen Horan, 31 Bond Street
  5. James Twining, The Black Sun
  6. James Patterson & Liza Marklund, The Postcard Killers
  7. James Patterson & Michael Ledwidge, Run For Your Life
  8. Meg O’Brien, Crimson Rain
  • Books read: 8
  • Pages read: 2,820
  • New Authors: 3
  • Fiction: 7
  • Nonfiction: 1
  • Read for Challenges: 8

I hate to admit,  but six of these books were library books. However, I was able to almost catch up with one series (Tess Gerritsen’s Jane & Rizzoli series) and I read one really good historical fiction (31 Bond Street) which is a little out of my comfort zone. Overall, I’m quite pleased with how much I’ve read these past two months as well as what I read.

Monthly Wrap Up

June & July 2010 Wrap-Ups

So these past two months, I have actually been doing pretty good in my reading – I’m quite pleased with where I’m at right now. Here’s what I’ve been reading:

  1. Jeffery Deaver, The Coffin Dancer
  2. James Patterson, London Bridges
  3. Clive Cussler, Pacific Vortex!
  4. Rebecca Drake, The Next Killing
  5. Alex Kava, Damaged
  6. Patricia Cornwell, The Last Precinct
  • Books read: 6
  • Pages read: 2,319
  • New Authors: 1
  • Fiction: 6
  • Nonfiction: 0
  • Read for Challenges: 6

So out of this list, only 2 books were library books, I’m really working hard on clearing out my shelves – it’s something I desperately need to do considering how many books I have brought in to the house in the last few weeks!!
