2008 Challenge & Reading Update

I thought I would take some time and look to see where I was at in my challenges (personal and formal) and my overall reading. I meant to do this back in June when we were at the half year mark, but naturally I never got around to it. (Go figure).

PERSONAL CHALLENGES:

  1. Triple Eight (NOTE: I did NOT sign up for this because I wasn’t comfortable attempting it at the time. Instead I cut out 3 of the categories. So my personal challenge was to do 5 categories of 8 books for 40 total). (32/40) Jan. 1 – Dec. 31, 2008
  2. Read 40,000 pages. Currently sitting at 27,548 which is 68% finished!!
  3. Read 75 books. Currently working on books 71 & 72!! Woo!! So I know for a fact that I am going to hit 75. When I reach 75 I’m going to bump it to 100.

So I’m doing quite well with all of my challenges with the exception of the Back to History Challenge. And I’m really disappointed in myself on that one since I was a history major in college. I just haven’t had much interest in reading anything historical and am contemplating dropping it. I’m also eyeing a new challenge, one where you ban your book buying! I’m probably going to sign up for it in the next few days.

READING UPDATE:

I am very pleased as to where I’m at right now. The only troubling figure is my number of abandoned books. And I was really disappointed that I just could not get into four of those nine. I really wanted to read them. Hopefully in a couple of years I can come back to them and give it a second try.
