I had a good reading month in May. 5 books … which was much better than the 2 I managed in April 🙂 Even better was that I reviewed all these books here on the blog! Go me!! Here’s a quick visual of what I read in May …. clicking on the image will take you to my review.
Well somewhere along the line I skipped the August wrap-up. Oops. So I figured I’d just go ahead and wrap August and September up together. I’ve had some strange reading habits lately. I went on vacation in early September and read up a storm. But I haven’t even picked up a book in over a week now. So I don’t know what’s going on with that. I’ll get back to it eventually 🙂

Hopefully I can get out of this reading slump funk I’m in soon and have some great reading ahead of me. It’s not like I don’t have enough books to choose from… ha! I also hope to be getting a post written up documenting our vacation pretty soon. I just don’t seem to have the time (or effort) to want to sit down and draft anything up right now. July shaped up to be a really good reading month for me. In fact, it was the best month I had in terms of numbers of books I read all year! I’m overlooking the fact that 2 of tho se “books” I read were novellas. I was just reading up a storm all month long! I found myself reading three e-books in a row … something I never do. But it’s so easy to read an e-book while feeding a baby 🙂

I’m looking forward to August. I’ve got some great upcoming reviews to share with you, plus I’ve got some great reading ahead of me! AND … I’m in countdown mode to our vacation in September. I’m so excited. My husband and I have actually not been on vacation since LAST September. That’s so unusual for us. But with my pregnancy having some bumps along the way and then moving, there was no time to travel anywhere other than 1 night away to Nashville. I’m also excited because it’ll be Garrett’s first cruise! I am a huge fan of cruises (Nathan, not so much) and I hope that Garrett shares my love of them! Sadly we have to leave Katelyn home with my parents this time because she’s not old enough for a cruise yet (they require them to be 6 months old). So it will be my first time away from her overnight since she was born … and it will be 8 very long nights without her. But she’ll get to go to Disney World with all of us in December so I’m looking forward to that as well 🙂

So um…. yeah, I know I’ve been more than a little MIA here on the blog. That’s what happens when you spend all of April in the fog of pregnancy brain and May welcoming a new little one and June seeing your daughter in surgery. So I wanted to spend a few minutes wrapping up the last 3 months of my reading (as if there’s that much to wrap-up…..)

Not sure my reading is going to improve any time soon … my maternity leave is over after the 4th of July. But luckily I will only be working part-time. I have signed up for some challenges on my Goodreads groups that have me super excited to cross off some TBR books. Hopefully I can get into some kind of a groove now that Katelyn seems to be sleeping more at night now.

March was another good month for me. Once again, I only read 4 books (and sadly had 1 DNF), but I’m very pleased with what I finished this month.

I read 133 pages in this book before I realized that I had no idea what was going on or who was who. The storyline brought back all the nightmares I had to suffer through when I was in my Chinese history class in college. I just couldn’t keep going, so I ultimately decided a DNF was the best course of action for this book. I hope I don’t miss too much for the next book in the series, but it just wasn’t worth the hassle of slugging through it in my opinion.

February was a pretty good month. Numbers wise, I only read 4 books. However, three of the four were all really good. And quality over quantity any day! Also I know I had said that I wasn’t taking on any review books this year. I wish I had more self-control. But I’ve been contacted twice by authors that I’ve reviewed in the past and I simply couldn’t say no to either one. I tried…

Well … January was an ok reading month for me. I managed to read 4 books. Unfortunately, none of them really had that WOW factor. Three of the four books were from my shelves. The one review book was my last commitment that I had outstanding. I had said earlier that I wasn’t going to accept review books. And I’m really not planning on taking any more on right now. I have signed up for some book spotlights through tour companies for books that I would normally accept for review consideration, but I’m still holding firm on my no-review-book decision for now.

August was pretty awesome! Bout of Books 11 really jump started my reading again! I was also glad that I allowed myself one guilt free book. It was much needed (9 out of 10 books previously read were review books … I was due for something fun and mindless!). Just an overall awesome month!

I had a pretty decent month of reading in June. I had some enjoyable reads this month, but I did slow down considerably after I got back from vacation to learn that my grandmother was very ill in the hospital. Then she got placed into a nursing home rehab facility. So to say the last half of June was pretty hectic and stressful is an understatement. But I was able to escape a little through my reading, which is always nice! Here’s what I read in June.
